With your teams dispersed and redirected as more critical needs arise, the challenge to maintain oversight across all your study activities will likely compound over time if not addressed at the forefront.

Thankfully, there are many tools available that can address simple task management. The trickier part is related to study and document-specific tasks. More on that later.

Assuming you don’t have an eISF or eRegulatory software in place now, you may be seeking a short-term solution to assign and manage day-to-day tasks in a way that provides team or role-specific visibility. Visibility into project tasks helps keep everyone on the same page and in-tune with what each individual contributor is bringing to the table.

This level of project management oversight will:

  • Provide insights into project statuses and deadlines
  • Create a collaborative space to efficiently complete projects
  • Allow teams to manage multiple complex projects in one place
  • Automate workflow tasks to streamline processes
  • Notify contributors quickly and effectively
  • Streamline planning and coordination among contributors
  • Track goals and metrics
  • Organize tasks and assign team responsibilities

Some tasks management platforms to consider are:

  • Asana
  • Monday.com
  • Trello
  • Airtable
  • Basecamp

For more in-depth information about our favorite task management, video conferencing and communication platforms, this post is a great place to explore.

These task management platforms are not FDA 21 CFR Part 11 Compliant so it is important to remember that any sensitive data cannot be entered or tracked on these platforms.

While these task management platforms provide a way to manually assign and manage tasks, seeing them through the full cycle to completion is not a typical feature these provide. So for example, tracking study start-up document completion is viable, but this requires the individual contributor to verify and essentially check this task off the list.

However, if you are considering or already have Florence eBinders in place, you can easily stay on track with project management and workflow-specific automation. Global View for example provides a high-level view of all your documents and tasks and where they stand. As signatures are completed and tasks accomplished, global view will automatically reflect these changes.

This oversight will help you identify bottlenecks and give you a single source of truth. Something that is invaluable when communication and efficiency are critical to your ability to overcome the difficulties we are facing as an industry and a global community.
