Florence Receives Awards for Company Culture and Innovation

Trophy floating against blue and white background

Successful, sustainable companies must balance growing quickly with supporting and valuing their employees. That’s why Florence was thrilled to receive several awards for building a great place to work and for our technical innovation in 2021.

Like almost every company, we had to make sure our employees felt connected and had mental health support while working remotely over the past year. But since we work in healthcare tech, we also had to make sure our software was ready to support the physicians, nurses, and clinical research staff who made the COVID vaccine happen.

We’re honored to receive the following accolades that show we found that balance. And if reading about these awards makes you curious about Florence, check out our culture page to learn more about us or our careers page if you’d like to join us.

Fortune Best Small Workplaces – #31

Every year, Fortune partners with Great Place to Work to determine the Best Small, Medium, and Large Workplaces in the U.S. In 2021, Florence came in #31 in the country on the Best Small Workplaces list.

During the Great Place to Work survey, employees share whether their organization builds a culture of trust and helps them reach their full potential. They also rank the company’s innovation, values, and leadership team.

Fortune quoted an anonymous employee who said, “Florence Healthcare has a unique culture of very kind people. They love to give kudos and thanks to their co-workers. I would definitely describe everyone as humble and open to learning and receiving feedback.”

Inc. 5000 Fastest-Growing Private Companies

The Inc. 5000 list honors the fastest-growing private companies in the U.S., based on their revenue and job creation. Florence landed in the top 1200 thanks to our 431% growth rate over the past year.

In 2021, we hit $8M in revenue and expanded our team to over 130 people. But our proudest accomplishment is expanding our reach to more than 10,000 clinical research sites in 44 countries. The more clinical research sites we serve, the more medical treatments we can help get to market.

Atlanta Business Chronicle Best Places to Work: Medium Companies – #11

The Atlanta Business Chronicle partners with Quantum Workplace each year to honor the best places to work in the Atlanta metro area. Employees at participating businesses fill out surveys about the environment and people practices at their workplace. Florence earned the #11 spot among medium-sized companies thanks to our goals programs, mentorship opportunities, and cultural events, among other features.

Each of our employees is encouraged to create five goals for their career as a whole that go beyond their day-to-day work at Florence. Our culture also includes weekly check-ins, daily stand-ups, mentorship groups like Women of Florence, and events every Friday that range from volunteer outings to Lunch and Learns.

Atlanta Business Chronicle Pacesetter Awards – #27 overall, #4 in healthcare

The Pacesetter Awards honor the fastest-growing companies in Atlanta. To qualify for the list, businesses must have a two-year growth in sales of more than 50% and a revenue of between $1 million and $300 million in the previous year. We earned our #27 spot among all businesses and #4 spot among healthcare businesses due to our 431% growth in 2020.

This award came from the efforts of our sales and strategic account teams. But all of Florence, from the software developers to the customer service team, supported them by ensuring we had a strong product that our customers were happy to use.

Technology Association of Georgia – Biggest Impact Company

The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) Awards recognize companies from the state of Georgia who focus on “the creation, development and dissemination of technology.” At their annual conference in April 2021, TAG chose Florence as the Biggest Impact Company in Georgia.

We earned this accolade for our work enabling clinical trials during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially Pfizer’s vaccine trials. Pfizer used our software to track documents from their study sites running vaccine trials throughout the world. We were honored to play a small role in the creation of their historic vaccine.

Technology Association of Georgia – Top 10 Innovative Companies

In addition to giving us the Biggest Impact Company award, TAG included Florence on their list of Top 10 Innovative Companies. This list honors companies in Georgia based on the degree, scope, financial impact, and likelihood of success of their technical innovations.

In 2020, we earned this award by expanding Florence’s remote access capabilities so sponsors and CROs could monitor clinical trials without visiting sites in person. In 2021, we started building our eConsent tool, which we hope will get us back on the list next year.

Stevie International Business Awards – Silver, Most Valuable Corporate Response to COVID-19

The Stevie Awards honor international companies in categories ranging from Creative to Customer Service, IT, and Marketing. The COVID-19 category was created in 2020 to recognize businesses that came up with creative ways to serve their customers during the pandemic.

Florence was one of 10 companies from around the world to receive the Silver Award. We earned this accolade by supporting Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine trials with our remote access software. The Florence platform let Pfizer’s monitors check on documents and data from the sites testing the vaccine, even when travel was no longer an option.

Stevie International Business Awards – Silver, Achievement in Growth

In addition to recognizing our COVID-19 response, the Stevie Awards recognized Florence’s growth. We earned a Silver Award by increasing our revenue 940% in just three years.

Though we were proud to grow our revenue, we were even prouder that we went from serving 5,000 research sites to serving 10,000. Those sites can now manage their clinical trial documents more efficiently and quickly share those documents with their pharmaceutical and biotech sponsors.

Where We Go From Here

Though we were honored to receive each of these awards, we know we’re not done yet. Florence wants to ensure every clinical research site has efficient, secure technology for managing their documents and sharing them with sites and sponsors. We also want to continue building a work environment where every employee feels valued and has room for growth.
