Florence Healthcare Demonstrates Commitment to Protecting Clinical Trial Data with SOC 2 Report

ATLANTA–April 19, 2022–(Business Wire)–Florence Healthcare has officially received their SOC 2 Report, showing that the company’s clinical trial software meets the globally-recognized standards for data security set by the AICPA. With this report, Florence can highlight their dedication to protecting customer and patient data while accelerating clinical trials.

The company chose to pursue a Service Organization Control 2 Report after expanding their network to 10,000 research sites and partnering with major biopharmaceutical sponsors and organizations, including Pfizer, WCG Velos, and Cognizant SIP.

“SOC 2 gave us a way to show these sponsors and organizations that we have strong security controls in place. They can trust our SiteLink and eBinders platforms to deliver the level of data protection they need in a complex global environment,” said Blake Adams, Sr. VP of Marketing for Florence.

To receive a SOC 2 Report, Florence went through a formal attestation process where a third-party CPA firm reviewed the company’s controls for data security, availability, and confidentiality.

Florence’s eBinders and SiteLink platforms are also compatible with other global clinical trial standards, such as FDA 21 CFR Part 11, GDPR, and HIPAA

“With the popularity of decentralized, global trials, having technology that protects patient data is more critical than ever,” said Andres Garcia, Chief Technology Officer for Florence. “A SOC 2 Report demonstrates that we can offer data security to all 45 countries that we currently serve and all of the countries we’ll serve in the future.”

92% of hospital systems and 89% of sponsors use decentralized methods for at least some of their studies. Because of this, data protection during decentralized and multinational studies is one of Florence’s key focuses.

“Obtaining a SOC 2 Report demonstrates to customers that our solution offers data security, availability, and confidentiality,” said Zack Wilkinson, Florence’s Director of Information Security. “In addition, our SOC 2 Report gives customers confidence that our internal controls align with industry standards and best practices.”

Florence’s Investigator Site File, eBinders, serves thousands of research sites–in fact, 80% of the U.S. population now lives within 25 miles of an eBinders-equipped site. Florence eBinders also integrates with SiteLink, a global trial platform that empowers sponsors and CROs with 24/7 remote monitoring and source data review.

The Florence team plans to build on their SOC 2 Report by increasing the global presence of both eBinders and SiteLink.

“In the next decade, we hope to double the number of new, fully-approved treatments available to patients,” said Adams. “To do that, we have to continue offering world-class security for our clinical trial software. We want every patient to have access to trials and to know that their data will be safe when they participate.”
